I am Dr. Sheryll B. Jerez, a Professor of Environmental Science at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. My academic journey began at the University of the Philippines at Los Baños, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering in April 1996. I then moved to the United States for my graduate studies. I obtained my Master of Science in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from Kansas State University in May 2002, where I also received an Air Quality Certificate. My doctoral degree was awarded by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in October 2007, where I specialized in Agricultural Engineering.
My professional career has been marked by a series of progressive roles at Stephen F. Austin State University, starting as an Assistant Professor in November 2007. I was promoted to Associate Professor in September 2013, and then to Professor in September 2020. I have also held administrative positions, including Interim Associate Dean and Interim Dean. Currently, I serve as the Director of the Division of Environmental Science.
Throughout my career, I have supervised and advised numerous graduate students, contributing to their academic and professional growth. My research interests are reflected in my numerous publications and presentations, with a focus on environmental science and engineering. I have also been successful in securing grants for my research, further advancing knowledge in my field. My work has been recognized and featured in various news articles and interviews. My commitment to teaching and research underscores my dedication to the field of environmental science.
