Christy R. Collins

Christy teaches across the curriculum in the BSW and the MSW programs in both online and face to face modalities. She has presented at numerous conferences (including NASW Texas and CSWE) and is working to build her publication portfolio. As an LCSW-S, she has a private counseling practice in Longview where she sees a few clients a week and supervises LMSWs seeking clinical licensure. She also teaches community yoga once a week. She tries to integrate mindfulness practices into most of her life (personal and professional). Conceptualizing self-care as a lifelong learning mindset is her passion. She enjoys teaching online and learning ways to promote student engagement and build in best online androgical practices. Her research interests also include trauma stewardship and teaching critical thinking and reflection. She is currently working on her Doctorat of Social Work at SFASU.
