Personal profile

Dr. Kesha Becnel joined the DeWitt School of Nursing in 2015 as a clinical instructor and was promoted to assistant professor in 2022. Dr. Becnel earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Nicholls State University in 2002 and her Master of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in nursing education from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2010. She received her Doctor of Education with a focus in Nursing Education from Teachers College at Columbia University in 2022. She is also a certified nurse educator. Her scholarship interests include innovative teaching strategies and nursing simulation. Dr. Becnel’s entire clinical nursing practice experience has been in medical-surgical nursing, as she has a passion for helping our aging population. She is currently teaching Nursing Capstone in the BSN program, and Nursing Theory and Assessment and Evaluation in the MSN program.
