Personal profile
I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Stephen F. Austin State University. My academic journey began in Kolkata, India, where I earned my B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Calcutta in 2003. I then pursued my M.Sc. in Inorganic Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, graduating in 2005. My passion for Organic Chemistry led me to the City University of New York, New York, USA, where I obtained my M.Phil. in 2010 and Ph.D. in 2011.
Following my doctoral studies, I served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Department of Chemistry, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Upton, New York, USA from 2011 to 2013, and later at the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado until August 2014. I then joined Stephen F. Austin State University as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in August 2020.
Throughout my career, I have published numerous articles in scientific journals, contributed to intellectual property with several patents, and received multiple honors, awards, grants, and fellowships. I have also developed course curriculums and have had the privilege of supervising many undergraduate research students. My research interests lie in organic chemistry, biochemistry, and photomedicine. You can reach me at [email protected] or at my office, Chemistry 104 A.
