Research interests

Dr. Rashid Mia is serving as assistant professor of Inorganic and Supramolecular Chemistry at Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, Texas, United States since Fall 2022. Dr. Mia hold a PhD in Inorganic & Supramolecular Chemistry and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship from The University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA.

As a supramolecular chemistry lab, Mia lab incorporate non-covalent interactions hydrogen bonding, pi-pi interaction, hydrophobic interaction to Host (small organic molecules or macrocycles) to design Chemosensors (Fluorescent probe) for Guest molecular recognition (anions, metal ions, neutral molecules) via various fluorescence mechanism. Goal of Mia lab is making portable sensor for remote sensing and cell imaging and many more. Mia lab is committed to conducting cutting-edge research to push the boundaries of chemical science. Dr. Mia is making his mark in the sensor community and chemical science research, as such he was invited as session chair for the Coordination chemistry division (ACS Fall national meeting, Denver, CO, USA, 2024) and Presider for Self-assembly host-guest session (ACS Fall national meeting, 2021) at ACS national conference.
